AustraliaDumpSolver has successfully completed over 100 projects worldwide. A selection of recent projects the Landform Group has worked on are summarised below: BHP Billiton, Nickel West DumpSolver has undertaken a series of projects aimed at minimising the cost of construction of the staged and final waste landform. This large mine has significant volumes of deleterious waste requiring encapsulation. Details plans were provided by period over the life of the mine as well as detailed haulage statistics used for equipment budgeting. The waste landform also incorporated the use of concave outer slopes as well as caprock stockpiling for eventual mine closure. Additionally DumpSolver, with its ability to optimise the waste ramp exit location / volume, was used to guide the mine design allowing the overall mining cost to be optimised. BHP Billiton, Olympic Dam Expansion DumpSolver has been involved in several projects aimed at providing the lowest cost dumping solutions in association with alternate infrastructure / plant locations. Our analysis has provided objective data with major economic implications. Rio Tinto Iron Ore Pilbara Iron, West Angelas Project Full waste dump management plan for Deposit A that has developed an external and backfill waste dumping strategy that ultimately will reduce the external waste dump footprint by nearly 30% with a commensurate reduction in rehabilitation costs and significant saving in haulage costs. Rio Tinto Iron Ore Pilbara Iron, Tom Price Optimisation, design and scheduling studies have been undertaken at several deposits at the Tom Price Operation. These have provided life of mine dumping solutions complying with the client environmental standards. BMA Coal, South Walker Creek Optimisation of the life of mine waste landform development for the South Walker Creek mine. The mine extends over 23km with multiple periods of mining. As well as providing the lowest cost solution DumpSolver provided extensive statistics on haulage equipment over time, aiding in the mines long term planning. Oxiana Resources, Prominent Hill This is a new copper-gold mine which will process around 8 million tpa of ore over an initial life of nine years. The mine is expected to produce around 250 Million cubic metres of waste rock and 60 million cubic metres of tailings. The study demonstrated the financial, operational and environmental benefits from combining the waste dump and a circular tailings storage facility as an integrated waste landform (IWL). |
InternationalDumpSolver has successfully completed over 100 projects worldwide. A selection of recent projects the Landform Group has worked on are summarised below: AfricaFirst Quantum Minerals, Kansanshi Project, Zambia A major new copper project. DumpSolver have prepared a life of mine waste dumping strategy to eliminate waste dumping near sites of environmental and heritage importance. The waste management plan examined options to place 360 million cubic metres of waste on either external waste dumps or a combination of external and internal waste dumps. The combination internal and external waste dump configuration will shrink the external footprint of the project by 220 hectares and significantly reduce truck hours, and costs for waste haulage. First Quantum Minerals, Frontier Project, DRC The waste dumping plan examined various pit exit strategies and the impact on NPV of a delay in completing a sterilisation programme on a portion of the waste dump footprint. The programme is about to be updated to evaluate the economic benefits from trolley assist. |
